5 Ways to Start a Fresh This New Year

We have all had moments in our lives where we just want to get rid of everything and start over again. With it getting closer and closer to the New Year, this will be happening to a lot of you.

With me coming back home after being at University for a few months, I have also felt like this, that coming home was an opportunity to delete my life and start again. The first thing I did was come home and clean up my computer. It started by me deleting a few files, and ended up completely reinstalling the whole of windows, so that everything was gone. I already feel a bit more fresh, and ready to take on the new challenges which will be thrown at me over the next year.

Are you feeling the same? Then follow the advice below.

  1. Think about what you are doing – The only way you are going to find out about where you want to go, is by sitting down and thinking about what is actually going on around you. I realised when I sat down and thought that I love doing websites and being on the internet, so I should probably keep on doing projects related to the area, instead of just concentrating on my University life. By knowing what you want, you will figure out how to get it.
  2. Work out how to solve the problems you have found – Although I have always felt I am quite an organised person, when thinking about why I am not doing what I want at the moment, I found out that it was because I was completely unorganised about the whole thing. My work was in a pile, unsorted, my computer was a heap of files and I was generally just a mess.
  3. Solve the problem, don’t just hide it – I knew what I wanted to do. I knew what was wrong. Therefore the simple thing to do was to solve those problems. As I was unorganised I sorted out all of that work just sitting on my desk, I sat down and did my accounts, I sat there and backed up my computer and then wiped the rest. I now have no bookmarks on my internet browser, meaning that when I add them now, I know I am only getting the ones I remember, which must be the important ones.
  4. Work on from the problems – There is no point solving the problem and then letting it all come back onto you. This post is one of the things I am doing to ensure this doesn’t happen to me. I started reading a book to help me get back on track; I started making lists of how I should do everything, when I should do everything and what happens if I don’t do everything. Make sure that what you are sorting out actually gets sorted out.
  5. Enjoy yourself – Don’t start doing anything you don’t enjoy, it makes you skip it and drad the rest of the tasks. If you are sorting your life out, then you need to make sure you are doing it for the better, not just so you feel better for yourself in the short-term, it is all about changing.
