Getting Stuck Writing Articles? Don’t Think Too Much

I’ve been sitting here for around an hour now, trying desperately to finish the article off which I have been planning since this morning. However, I have some problems, I just can’t think! This is causing me to get stressed because to keep to my schedule, I need to have an article up by tonight.

What Action to Take When Stuck

I’ve come to a conclusion why I’m digging myself a deeper hole though, I’m thinking too much. In my head I just keep going over what I need to include in the article, not only so that it is an interesting read, but do that I am happy with what I have written. I’ve come to another conclusion of what to do when stuck writing an article, write a different article!

As I was concentrating so much on trying to get the article I wanted done, I was thinking about everything which I could possible lead off from the article, therefore when writing it all down I was going off in tangents everywhere, meaning that the article I was trying to achieve, was nothing of the sort.

Take a Break

Taking a break will help rejuvenate your inspiration juices, meaning that you can head straight back to your work and get on with it. I have to stress though, don’t have a break which is too long, as taking too much time will just get you in a bigger hole than you were before. One thing I recommend when taking a break is to try and get some research done. This can either be on the article subject you have been trying to write about, or a future topic you would like to discuss. Not only will this make your article be more informative, but it will help you learn in the process, which in my mind is very important because it gives you a much wider knowledge base for future articles.

Plan Some Work Out

Another tip is to plan your article out, put some small bullet points down on a piece of paper of what you want to mention in your article. This will hopefully help you get back on the right track; it may also help you come up with some ideas which have previously been forgotten. Whilst planning the article it could also lead to helping you chose the topic areas of future posts, because something in the current article may lead you into a new one.

What Actions Do You Take When Stuck?

Obviously everyone had their own way to deal with being stuck. The above methods are the ones I used to try and get my head screwed back on. I would love to hear some more tips in the comments below.
