Living up to Expectations

Do you feel that you live up to expectations? Do you live up to your own expectations? Do you live up to others expectations?

Expectations

It’s hard to know what you need to live up to. We all have expectations for ourselves, but how much do they matter and how much to other peoples expectations matter?

Most people suffer because they think they have to live up to the great expectations of their families, but in all truth they probably only want you to lead a happy life, in the end it doesn’t matter about success as long as you are comfortable in the body and head you have.

The pressure can cause lots of problems and without getting over these issues, you’ll probably end even more in the dumps of having to live up to something you don’t think you can do.

Obviously on many occasions you will have to live up to something that will never happen, often people with very successful parents have trouble living up to what they have done, we see it in the news all the time. A millionaires child never really does anything near as much as their parent did, for example the Ecclestone daughters have made money, but they will never do as well as their father has done. There are people who have done better, of course, but most of the time you will find that they won’t be as successful.

Live Up to Yourself

At the end of the day you should only ever have to live up to your own expectations, you are the one who needs to be pleased by the person you are, so why does it matter about other people?

I’ve always been a big dreamer and that leads to me having high expectations of myself, which causes some problems because when I don’t get something I want, such as a lower mark than I thought, I probably won’t be as happy as I should be for a while. On the other hand, having these high expectations make you try your hardest the majority of the time.

Despite this it also leads me to always have many ideas spinning around my head, hoping one will settle and become something which would lead me to meeting my expectations and be the success I have always wanted to be. It’s a never ending cycle, well, at the moment; I hope it will end in something special.

By having such high expectations of yourself, which I believe many of you reading this will have, you will have to be able to cope with the hard parts of not always doing everything to the highest level. The good thing though is that having these expectation will lead you to never give in, never give up on meeting those expectations.

Concentrate on yourself on when trying to succeed, not what others want of you.
