Set Yourself Objectives to Reach Your Overall Goals
Objectives: goals or targets that must be achieved in order to say that your website is a success.
It’s always been a thought of mine that setting objectives are needed to reach your final objectives. Not only does it give you a stepping stone to your main objectives, but it makes you achieve things more often, which can lead to motivation and therefore meeting other objectives a lot quicker and easier.
Setting Objectives for Motivation
We’re still early into the New Year, so I think I can mention some of my New Year targets which I set at the end of last year. I decided to add stepping stones, so that I could try and produce something over this year which would earn me some money and therefore allow me have a bit of extra cash. As I already had some websites making some money, I could have just set targets set on those straight away. However, as I have never set any targets before, I felt that I should set targets as if I was starting out from the beginning. Below are some examples of my targets:
Preliminary (Complete by March 31st)
- Make £1 a day from any source
- Build a ‘Money Making’ website
- Improve ——– website ‘or’ Try and sell —— website
- Sell 10 items on eBay
- Improve ——– website
Next (Complete by August 31st)
- Make £5 a day from any source
- Create another website to increase earnings
Next (complete by December 31st)
- Make £20 a day from any source
- Create another website to increase earnings
As you can see from above, the first target of ‘Make £1 a day from any source’ isn’t really a big target and if I’m being truly honest, I have already reached that goal, meaning that by March 31st I have some achievements to be proud of, and then by the next month the targets will be harder, but also quite well thought out and I can achieve them more easily. Setting these objectives at small jumps allows me to easily change them if something goes wrong, and also easily meet them when things go right.
Challenge Yourself
As these are my first set of targets, they aren’t too taxing. However, I have already set out that after I have achieved these targets I will try and challenge myself with ones which are quite a bit harder. This will give me something to push for and, especially for me, I feel that people work better when they have something to try and complete and aim towards. Challenging objectives also make you push yourself further than normal, meaning you achieve greater, which could be in this sense getting even more traffic to your website, in turn helping you gain more money.
Why Set Yourself Objectives?
Even though it takes time to do, and you may feel this is time you could be spending making or improving your website, setting objectives is a vital part of trying to make money in any type of business. For myself it had given me a lot more motivation to achieve levels of money and success that I have previously never known how to make myself do. Whether they work or matter in the long term is anybodies guess, but they help you on that journey, which is very important.
